The Roma hitman has been linked with a move to West Ham United.
West Ham boss Manuel Pellegrini spoke to reporters today, ahead of his side’s clash with Leicester City on Saturday, and responded when asked whether there is any truth to the rumours that he wants to sign Roma hitman Edin Dzeko, as quoted by Football.London.
Sky Sports reported just a few days ago that the Hammers have been offered the chance to sign Dzeko, 33, with the Serie A giants looking to get the Bosnian off their wage bill.
The former Manchester City man has been a real hit with Roma since joining the club for £10 million in the summer of 2015, scoring 85 goals for the club.
Dzeko would certainly be an upgrade on Andy Carroll at West Ham, but is there any truth behind the reports?
Pellegrini addressed the media today, and didn’t give much away when asked whether he wants to bring his former player to the London Stadium, as quoted by Football.London:
“I answer this question the same as I do with the 25 other players we have been said we are signing.”
Before worrying about summer signings, West Ham still need to finish this season strongly, and they will surely be targeting four wins from their last four games in order to give themselves a chance of finishing in seventh spot.
And then the really hard work will begin.
The signing of a top class striker will be a priority, but whether Dzeko is the man for the job remains up for debate.
