West Ham United have been linked with a move to re-sign their former defender.

West Ham manager Manuel Pellegrini addressed the media today ahead of his side’s clash with Arsenal on Saturday, and responded when asked whether he wants to bring James Collins back to the London Stadium, as quoted by Football.London.
The Hammers have experienced severe problems defensively during their opening two Premier League games, shipping six goals, and it is quite clear to see that Pellegrini has not yet settled on what he deems to be his best side.
According to a report from the Scottish Sun, the Chilean is keen to bring James Collins back to the club, in an effort to tighten up his shaky defence.
Pellegrini poured cold water on those rumours today, however, when speaking to reporters, suggesting that he has no interest in signing the Welshman, as quoted by Football.London:

“The squad is ready, we are not bringing any more players in or leave any out. James asked to work here while he finds a club. He played here for a lot of years so always the door is open to work with our squad. It is not more than that.”
West Ham do have plenty of options in the centre-back position, and Saturday might be the time when Issa Diop is finally given his chance to impress.
Whoever Pellegrini picks will have to be on their very best form, however, if they are to stand any whatsoever of returning to east London with anything to show for their efforts.
