The West Ham United youngster has emerged as one of Manuel Pellegrini’s most important players.
West Ham boss Manuel Pellegrini sat down for an exclusive interview with the Daily Mail, and raved about the quality of Declan Rice, despite pinpointing one thing that the 20-year-old must improve.
Rice has been quite simply brilliant for the Hammers this season, and he delighted the London Stadium faithful last month when he put pen to paper on a new deal with the club that runs until the summer of 2024.
The 20-year-old is far from the finished article, however, according to his manager.
Pellegrini spoke exclusively to the Daily Mail, and highlighted on key area where Rice should be looking to improve:
“He has become a big player for us. He is a mix of technical ability and power. He always wins his physical duels. He commits very few errors with his passes. Perhaps with time he will improve his vision of the whole pitch to improve his passing range because it’s one thing to never give the ball away and another to always give the best of all possible passes.”
Rice has already made 57 senior appearances for West Ham, and the thought of him progressing and improving even further will be a tantalising one for Hammers fans.
And despite the fact that West Ham failed to sign a single player during the January transfer window, tying the 20-year-old down to a new long-term deal would surely have been all the Hammers fans really wanted.
Rice is a seriously good player, and the scary thing is that he will only get better.
