West Ham United boss Manuel Pellegrini saw his side win for the first time this season at the weekend.

Manuel Pellegrini has told Football London that West Ham United’s attacking players need to be calmer in the final third.

Pellegrini thinks that West Ham have plenty of speed in attack, with Michail Antonio, Manuel Lanzini and Felipe Anderson all very quick.

But the Chilean boss wants to see his West Ham team show more precision in the opposition box.

West Ham won 3-1 against Watford yesterday, but Pellegrini thought that his team wasted some presentable opportunities.

He said: “The players have some characteristics that you cannot change. For example Felipe [Anderson] will always be a fast player, Lanzini too, Antonio as well. But we must be a little bit more calm in the last third to be more accurate.

“We could have decided this game more but we didn’t do it.”

In the end West Ham’s apparent profligacy didn’t matter too much, as they claimed the three points anyway.

Mark Noble scored a penalty to put West Ham in front, before Sebastian Haller struck with two goals to seal the three points.

West Ham looked strong in the contest, and Pellegrini will have been delighted to see the likes of Anderson and Haller linking up so effectively.

West Ham’s next match comes against Newport County, before they take on newly promoted Norwich City in the league.
