The West Ham United midfielder let his teammates down yesterday after a reckless lunge led to him being given his marching orders.
West Ham boss Manuel Pellegrini addressed the media in the aftermath of his side’s 1-1 draw with Leicester City in the Premier League yesterday, and shared what Mark Noble told him, after he was red cared after just 38 minutes of the game at the King Power Stadium, as quoted by Football.London.
The Hammers defended resolutely for two thirds of the game, but eventually had to settle for a point after the Foxes scored late on.
West Ham were dominating the game before Noble received his marching orders, and things could have been so different for the visitors, if the skipper remained on the pitch.
There can be no arguments from the Hammers, though. Noble clearly went in with his studs in the air, and the tackle could be classed as reckless to say the least.
Pellegrini spoke to reporters after the game, and shared what the West Ham captain told him after he left the field of play, as quoted by Football.London:
“Mark told me he didn’t go in with bad intentions, he tried to get the ball. Maybe he arrived late but I can’t speak about it it.”
Next up for the Hammers is their Carabao Cup clash with Tottenham on Wednesday night, and they will have to make do without their skipper.
