The Spaniard struggled during West Ham United’s Carabao Cup win last night.

West Ham boss Manuel Pellegrini spoke to reporters in the aftermath of his side’s 3-1 Carabao Cup win over AFC WImbledon last night, and shared his reasoning behind taking Pedro Obiang off just 45 minutes into the game, as quoted by the club’s official website.
Pellegrini brought on Felipe Anderson in place of the Spaniard after the first half, and the Hammers ran out comfortable winners, so the Chilean’s decision cannot be questioned.
West Ham have been woefully poor in the Premier League so far this season, and Pellegrini would have been looking for a response from his fringe players last night.
Some impressed more than others, however.
The West Ham boss refused to say that Obiang had a bad game, though, when speaking to reporters after the game, as quoted by the club’s official website:

“Pedro Obiang was not playing badly, but he had a yellow card and we didn’t want to take any risks to level that up, and I thought we also needed a more creative player and Felipe did well.”
Next up for the Hammers is a home game against Wolves on Saturday, and Obiang surely did not do enough last night to be in contention for selection against Nuno Espirito Santo’s side.
