The West Ham United manager shared news that Mark Noble has suffered a back injury today.
West Ham boss Manuel Pellegrini addressed the media today, ahead of his side’s trip to the Emirates to take on Arsenal tomorrow, and shared how Mark Noble is struggling with a back complaint, as quoted by Football.London, but having the skipper unavailable for selection might just turn out to be a blessing in disguise for the Chilean.
Noble, 31, has received criticism from some sections of the Hammers support this season, with some fans and pundits suggesting that his laboured playing style is slowing down West Ham’s build-up play through the middle of the park.
And it seems as though Noble might not feature against Arsenal on Saturday.
Pellegrini sat down for his pre-match press conference today, and responded when asked to provide an injury update ahead of his side’s clash with the Gunners at the weekend, as quoted by Football.London:
“Injuries this week have just the three that are out for a few more months and Mark Noble, has a problem in his back.”
Whilst is is never nice to lose your captain, Noble’s injury might have just come at the right time, and it will save Pellegrini from having to make an extremely difficult decision.
The West Ham boss can now bring in Carlos Sanchez or Pedro Obiang, without being seen to drop the club captain.
Either of those two players would bring more energy to the Hammers’ engine room, and that will be needed at the Emirates, considering the fact that they will probably be playing without the ball for large chunks of the game.
With this in mind, Noble’s injury might have just come at the right time, as harsh as that might sound.
