The West Ham United midfielder has been unavailable for selection for the past two-and-a-half months.
West Ham boss Manuel Pellegrini spoke to reporters yesterday, and provided an injury update on Jack Wilshere, suggesting that the midfielder will be assessed next week, as quoted by Football.London.
The 27-year-old joined the Hammers on a free transfer in the summer, after his contract expired with Arsenal, but he has made just four Premier League starts for the east London outfit.
Wilshere’s old injury problems have come back to haunt him this season, and he has not played a game for West Ham since December.
Signing the England international was always going to be a risk for Pellegrini, and as things stand, it is looking like a poor decision from the Chilean.
The West Ham boss addressed the media yesterday, and shared how Wilshere will be assessed next week, as he continues his rehabilitation from an ankle injury, as quoted by Football.London:
“We will analyse Jack Wilshere next week, then we will be more clear about his future.”
On his day, Wilshere really is a top class player, but as he continues to get older, it will become even harder for him to bounce back from injury.
And West Ham might just be regretting their decision to sign him last summer.
