West Ham United were extremely quiet on transfer deadline day.

West Ham boss Manuel Pellegrini spoke to reporters today, and insisted that the only person who he wanted to sign on transfer deadline day was Gary Medel, as quoted by Football.London.
The Hammers ended up with no new arrivals yesterday, and many of the club’s fans were left angered by Pellegrini’s lack of transfer activity.
West Ham currently sit in 12th spot in the Premier League table, four points adrift of seventh placed Wolves, and they now face an uphill struggle to earn a Europa League place.
The east London outfit did sign Samir Nasri earlier last month, but it could be argued that Pellegrini actually needed to strengthen in every department.
The Chilean spoke to reporters today, and suggested that there was only ever one player who he wanted to bring to West Ham on deadline day, as quoted by Football.London:

“The only player we had interest in was Gary Medel, they told us it was free and we were interested because he can play in two or three positions. They told us he was free but then it turned out the player was not free.”
Medel would have been a useful addition, but even if the Hammers had signed the 31-year-old, it probably still wouldn’t have been enough to appease the disgruntled West Ham fans.
Next up for the east London outfit is a home clash against Liverpool on Monday night, and three points against the league leaders would be the perfect way to get the fans back onside quickly.
