The West Ham United hitman has been in poor form this season.
West Ham boss Manuel Pellegrini spoke to reporters during his pre-match press conference today, and suggested that he expects more from Javier Hernandez, with the Mexican enduring a poor start to the Premier League campaign, as quoted by Football.London.
The 30-year-old joined the Hammers from Bayer Leverkusen in the summer of 2017, for a fee believed to be worth somewhere in the region of £16 million, but he has really struggled to establish himself in east London, scoring just 10 goals in 43 appearances in all competitions.
West Ham have endured a troublesome start to their campaign too, and Pellegrini could really do with a fully fit and firing Hernandez.
The Chilean addressed the media today, and explained how he expects a lot more from Chicharito this season, as quoted by Football.London:
“I always want more from the players. Javier has had a difficult season, returning from the World Cup, after that he played one game, had a virus for nearly a month, he must start again. He is a good player.”
The Mexico international has proven throughout his career that he is one of the best finishers in the game, and if he is to salvage his West Ham career, he had better start living up to that reputation sooner rather than later.
