It seems like the striker may leave West Ham United this month.

West Ham boss Manuel Pellegrini addressed the media yesterday, after his side’s disappointing 2-0 defeat to Bournemouth, and explained why Lucas Perez was not part of the match-day squad, as quoted by Football.London.

The Hammers never really got going yesterday, despite missing a gilt-edged chance in the first-half, and Pellegrini would have been bitterly disappointed with his side’s failure to back up their win over Arsenal last week.

West Ham had to make do without Marko Arnautovic yesterday, who wasn’t in a fit frame of mind to play, but he wasn’t the only striker missing.

Lucas Perez was also absent at the Vitality Stadium.

According to the Evening Standard, Real Betis want to sign the Spaniard this month for around £4 million, and his omission from the Hammers’ squad yesterday was certainly an interesting one.

Pellegrini addressed the media yesterday, and responded to reporters when asked why he chose to leave Perez at home, as quoted by Football.London:

“Same as Marko, I chose the 18 players that were better during the week.”

Perez has never really lived up to his reputation, since making his £4 million switch from Arsenal in the summer, and there would not be too many West Ham fans who would be upset to see the Spaniard leave this month.

And if he wasn’t deemed worthy of a place in the 18 man squad for yesterday’s trip to Bournemouth, especially with Arnie missing too, then his future in east London really does look bleak.
