West Ham United were extremely busy during this summer’s transfer window.
West Ham boss Manuel Pellegrini addressed the media today, ahead of his side’s clash with Liverpool on Sunday, and responded when asked whether any players will be leaving the London Stadium between now and the end of the month, as quoted by Football.London.
The Hammers signed nine new players this summer for somewhere in the region of £100 million, and with only five players leaving, Pellegrini will surely be looking to ship out more deadwood before the European transfer window closes on August 31st.
The likes of Pedro Obiang and Edimilson Fernandes face uncertain futures in east London, and Pellegrini might just be looking at ways to trim his squad.
The Chilean sat down for his pre-match press conference today, and refused to be drawn on whether anyone else will be leaving West Ham this summer, however, as quoted by Football.London:
“We will see. There are always options that some players can go but for the moment I have no news about that.”
West Ham do have a bloated squad, and selling certain players might be key to Pellegrini overseeing a harmonious squad this season.
If the Chilean gets everything right, the Hammers stand a great chance of making a sustained push for the top seven this season.
