The experienced Frenchman’s contract with West Ham United is up in the summer.

West Ham boss Manuel Pellegrini addressed the media during his pre-match press conference today, and responded when asked whether Samir Nasri will be given a new contract at the end of the season, as quoted by Football.London.

The Frenchman joined the Hammers on a short-term deal in January, but injuries have prevented him from showing what he is truly capable of, with just five Premier League appearances to his name for the east London outfit thus far.

To be fair to Nasri, he has actually done quite well when given a chance to shine this season, but whether he has done enough to convince the club’s owners that he is worthy of a new contract remains to be seen.

Pellegrini was asked at his press conference today whether the 31-year-old will still be at West Ham next season, and he didn’t give much away, as quoted by Football.London:

“We are not looking at next season at this moment, that is why I won’t talk about not only Nasri but any other players. We will decide the squad for next season after this one.”

West Ham face Everton on Saturday, and are in desperate need for all three points, as the race for seventh heats up.

The Hammers might have to do without Nasri for this weekend’s game, however, with Pellegrini confirming that he has a slight calf problem.
