The West Ham United ace has not played since December 1st.
West Ham boss Manuel Pellegrini spoke to reporters yesterday, and provided an update on Jack Wilshere, suggesting that the former Arsenal man is closing in on a return to action, as quoted by Football.London.
The 27-year-old joined the Hammers from the Gunners on a free transfer in the summer, but has really struggled with injuries this season, making just five appearances in all competitions.
On his day Wilshere is a fantastic footballer, but the problem is that he never seems to get a consistent run of games together where he can build some rhythm.
West Ham have really missed Wilshere’s quality this season, and Pellegrini responded to reporters when asked how long it will be before the 34-capped England international returns to action, as quoted by Football.London:
“Jack Wilshere is OK. We will see tomorrow. We will see how he feels. He played one game for the U23s so we will talk with him but it will be soon, either this week or next week that he will play before the end of this season.”
West Ham face Leicester City at the London Stadium tomorrow, and that will probably come too soon for Wilshere, but next weekend’s trip to Tottenham might be the ideal time for the midfielder to make his long awaited comeback.
