West Ham United boss Manuel Pellegrini has told Football.London that he thinks the money invested at Everton is a ‘good way to manage that club’.

The Premier League returns from the international break this weekend, and West Ham United host Everton at the London Stadium.

West Ham head into the game two points ahead of Everton, with both sides looking to sneak into a European place come the end of the season.

Both teams are bidding to become the ‘best of the rest’ team, sitting just outside the top six, and have spent considerable money to get there.

West Ham splashed out on Issa Diop and Felipe Anderson last summer, but Everton’s spending since Farhad Moshiri’s takeover in 2016 has been huge.

Gylfi Sigurdsson, Richarlison, Jordan Pickford, Lucas Digne, Yerry Mina, Michael Keane, Morgan Schneiderlin, Ademola Lookman, Yannick Bolasie, Theo Walcott and Cenk Tosun are just a handful of players to have arrived in recent times for considerable money.

Farhad Moshiri, Owner of Everton looks on prior to the Premier League match between Everton FC and Huddersfield Town at Goodison Park on September 1, 2018 in Liverpool, United Kingdom.

Everton don’t really have any progress to show for that outlay, and West Ham boss Pellegrini has been asked about their spending.

Pellegrini believes Moshiri’s move to invest big money is a ‘good way’ to manage the club, backing them to reach the position they want, but thinks they are similar to West Ham’s position right now.

“They have invested money, it is a good way to manage that club,” said Pellegrini. “They will reach the position they want to but at the moment, they are similar to us and that is why it will be a difficult game,” he added.
