West Ham United signed the forward from Borussia Dortmund this summer.
West Ham boss Manuel Pellegrini spoke to reporters today, ahead of his side’s trip to Everton on Sunday, and responded when asked when Andriy Yarmolenko will be ready to start a Premier League game for the Hammers, as quoted by Football.London.
The Ukrainian has made a slow start to life in east London, after making his £17.5 million switch from Borussia Dortmund in the summer, having made just four substitute appearances in the Premier League thus far.
West Ham have made a woeful start to their campaign, losing all four league games so far, and that will surely not have helped the 28-year-old’s integration into life in England.
Pellegrini addressed the media today, and insisted that Yarmolenko needs to be given more time to settle into life at the London Stadium, as quoted by Football.London:
“I think Andriy needs time to know the Premier League, especially as he plays as a winger with all the full backs attacking, he is improving a lot, we will see when he will be able to start a game.”
West Ham need to go to Goodison Park and take the game to Everton on Sunday, and with the Ukraine international’s skill-set, Pellegrini could do a lot worse than starting him against Marco Silva’s side.
