The West Ham United manager brought in nine new faces this summer.
West Ham boss Manuel Pellegrini spoke exclusively to the club’s official website, and admitted that he fully expected his side to struggle at the start of this season, what with so many new faces arriving at the London Stadium during the summer transfer window.
The Hammers have made the worse start possible this term, losing 4-0 away at Liverpool eight days ago, before suffering a 2-1 defeat at home to Bournemouth on Saturday.
Those two results leave them rock bottom of the Premier League table, and with Arsenal away next up on the horizon, things are really looking bleak for West Ham.
Pellegrini spoke exclusively to the club’s official website about his side’s difficult start to the season, and admitted that it has come as no surprise at all to him:
“We knew before the start of the season that we would have a difficult start, because we have bought nine new players and because we have to play against the four big teams in the first seven rounds, but we need to continue working and continue trusting in what we do.”
Whilst the Chilean undoubtedly has a point with regards to his new players needing time to settle in, England’s top flight is an unforgiving league, and the longer West Ham go without a win, the more pressure the players and the manager will be under from both the club’s fans and the board.
