West Ham United hero Marko Arnautovic has been linked with a bumper move to Manchester United.
According to reports in the likes of The Metro, West Ham have slapped a £60 million price tag on Arnautovic with Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho sniffing around.
The Metro claims Mourinho is interested in signing the 29-year-old, having briefly worked with him during his time at Inter Milan.
The Portuguese boss watched the West Ham star in action during Austria’s recent friendly win against Russia and believes the maverick forward would provide good back-up for Romelu Lukaku.
Arnautovic bagged 11 times in 22 games times since David Moyes’ appointment in December and was West Ham’s player of the season following his £24m arrival from Stoke last summer.
Speculation over Arnautovic’s future has infuriated West Ham fans – nearly 50,000 of whom have signed up for season tickets again for next term.
And those supporters will be worried after Pellegrini randomly revealed to Chilean newspaper El Mercurio that he recently met up with Mourinho in London.
“I have a very good relationship with all the coaches, including (Jose) Mourinho,” Pellegrini told El Mercurio.
“We recently met in London and we greeted each other with a big hug.”
Pellegrini did not go into any more detail which will concern Hammers fans given Mourinho’s very real interest in signing the 64-year-old’s best player.
The pair have not seen eye-to-eye in the past with Pellegrini slamming Mourinho saying “he takes credit for everything” and clashing over ‘mind games’, as reported by the likes of BBC Sport.
