Andriy Yarmolenko would be hoping to keep up his form at West Ham after impressing last weekend.

West Ham manager Manuel Pellegrini insists that Andriy Yarmolenko is a “top player” after his impressive display against Everton at the weekend.

The 6ft 2in winger scored twice to help his side get their first Premier League points on the board for this season.

He has arrived at the London Stadium from Borussia Dortmund with a big reputation and has been eased into the side.

But the left-footed ace proved his quality in front of goal against Everton and will now be desperate to become a mainstay in the starting XI.

Pellegrini has praised the attacker for his ability and feels that he needs time adjusting to the style of English football.

“I said before that it would take Yarmolenko a few weeks to get used to the Premier League. He has a lot of quality and he demonstrated that [against Everton]. This performance showed he is a top player,” Pellegrini said in his pre-match press conference, as quoted by the club’s official website.

Yarmolenko, 28, clearly has brilliant technical ability, but it remains to be seen if he can move into the top bracket of players in the Premier League.

The Ukraine international will get the perfect opportunity to do that in West Ham’s next two league fixtures, as they host both giants Chelsea and Manchester United either side of a cup meeting with Macclesfield Town.

After making his impact on the game against Everton, it would send out a real message if the wide man can make a difference against some of the league’s best.
