West Ham United boss Manuel Pellegrini has told the Daily Mirror that he has spoken to Yaya Toure about a move to the London Stadium.

Toure was a free agent at the start of the season, and is once again now, after the termination of his contract at Olympiacos.

It was suggested that the Ivorian could be a potential target for West Ham in January, after Jack Wilshere’s latest injury problem.

However, Pellegrini insists that strengthening in central midfield still isn’t a prioirty.

“I spoke with Yaya, yes — at the beginning of the season,” he admitted.

“It is not a priority because we already have players in that position.”

Wilshere has struggled badly with injury since his move to West Ham in the summer.

Wilshere has now injured both ankles during his time at the London Stadium and, despite being carefully managed, he seemingly cannot avoid the treatment table.

Toure could have offered a short term solution to West Ham, but it seems that Pellegrini is happy to continue with his other options.

West Ham already have the likes of Declan Rice, Mark Noble and Pedro Obiang to pick from in central midfield.
