The Manchester City boss does not have any concerns over the Ivorian’s commitment to the club

Manchester City manager Manuel Pellegrini says he is confident that Yaya Toure is committed to the club according to Sky Sports.

Toure recently cast doubt on his long-term commitment to the club during an interview with CNN at the Africa Cup of Nations.

In the interview, he responded “I don’t know” when asked if he would be playing at the Etihad next season.

However, Pellegrini has no concerns over his star midfielders’ attitude, or his commitment to the reigning Premier League champions, despite this being the second time the Ivorian has suggested he will be leaving the club at some point in the future.

“I think Yaya is 100 per cent committed with our team and with this team,” said the Manchester City boss.

“I don’t think any of us know what will happen in six months more. We don’t know where you can be, we cannot know what will happen in the future.

Toure is likely to feature heavily for the Ivory Coast at the tournament, and potential progression for his national side could see City without their man for up to four weeks.

City have not won a Premier League match without him since April, but Pellegrini has no fears his side can cope without him, as they look to battle Chelsea for top place in the league.

“Of course we are going to miss Yaya because he is a very important player – in the same way that we miss Sergio Aguero, Edin Dzeko, David Silva, or all the players that for different reasons cannot play every week,” said the Chilean.

“We must continue fighting for the title with or without Yaya. We have to play two more games without Yaya and he will arrive here in February. I don’t think our team depends just on one player.”
