The West Ham United forward has been linked with a move away from the club in January.
West Ham boss Manuel Pellegrini addressed the media yesterday, ahead of his side’s clash with Manchester City tomorrow, and responded when asked whether he believes Marko Arnautovic will remain in east London beyond the January transfer window, as quoted by Football.London.
The Austrian has established himself as one of the Hammers’ most important players, since moving to the London Stadium from Stoke City in the summer of 2017 for around £24 million.
Arnautovic is so vital to West Ham, and the way that they play. Whenever he is on form, it seems as though the Hammers are an entirely different animal.
Pellegrini spoke to reporters, and insisted that he believes the 29-year-old is happy in east London, as quoted by Football.London:
“He is a West Ham player, he has a contract here, he is happy here. I don’t think that Marko is thinking about anything other than West Ham.”
The Chilean then went on to discuss the player’s agent’s role in linking his client with a move away from West Ham:
“I can’t tell everyone what to say. Marko has not said anything to me but his agent can say what he wants.”
West Ham fans will be praying that Arnie stays at the London Stadium for the foreseeable future, but if one of England’s bigger clubs come in with a mammoth offer for his services in January, it might be hard for the east Londoners to keep hold of him.
