If reports are to be believed it has been a tempestuous start to life at West Ham United for Manuel Pellegrini.
Just two weeks into his West Ham tenure Pellegrini was reportedly already at loggerheads with co-owners David Sullivan and David Gold, as claimed by the likes of The Mirror.
According to the report Pellegrini has already raised concerns about having many of his requests knocked back in his bid to strengthen the Hammers squad despite promises from Sullivan and Gold that they would back the Chilean with unprecedented spending.
But just a day later Pellegrini appeared keen to repair any damage by giving an exclusive interview to the same newspaper where he said he has a ‘good relationship’ with his new bosses.
As the old saying goes there is no smoke without fire.
And it appears Pellegrini is keen to make his point, particularly to Sullivan – who usually takes a lead on transfers – after giving another interview, this time to Chilean newspaper, El Mercurio.
In the interview Pellegrini talks about his time at Real Madrid and explained why he only stayed for a single season due to meddling from the owners, making it clear he simply will not stand for it – David Sullivan take note.
“One of the discussions I had most often with the leaders of Real Madrid was on the performance of the players,” Pellegrini told El Mercurio.
“They told me that some had to play no matter what.
“But I never compromised.”
It comes as speculation mounts as to who signed Ryan Fredericks with the player targeted by West Ham back in January before becoming Pellegrini’s first signing, as reported by The Express.
It is reminiscent of when Slaven Bilic joined the club at the same time as longstanding target Pedro Obiang.
