Manuel Pellegrini has admitted to Football.London that West Ham United had problems with every one of their strikers in the January transfer window.

West Ham’s form dipped badly last month, but they put in an excellent showing against Liverpool last night.

The Hammers were able to pick up a point against the Premier League leaders, after drawing 1-1 at the London Stadium.

And Pellegrini feels that West Ham having a more settled team now helped massively.

Javier Hernandez, Lucas Perez, Marko Arnautovic and Andy Carroll were all linked with moves away from West Ham last month, as reported by the Daily Mail.

But, in the end, the quartet all stuck with the Hammers.

And Pellegrini said: “We need to repeat the way we play against the big teams against Palace. We have 8 or 9 players injured, we have no playmakers right now, problems with all the strikers during the transfer window. We need to do as best as we can for the remaining 13 games.”

It was Hernandez who was selected to start for West Ham last night, as Pellegrini backed the Mexican striker, with Arnautovic out injured.

Hernandez didn’t score, but he did cause problems for the Liverpool backline throughout the contest, before Carroll came on as a late substitute.

West Ham are currently in 12th place in the Premier League table.
