West Ham United are in action again later this evening, but Manuel Pellegrini’s side have mounting injury problems

West Ham take on Southampton later this evening, but their injury problems are mounting.
Hernandez and Balbuena could both miss out on playing for Pellegrini’s side, with West Ham’s options looking short both in defence and attack.
And Pellegrini admitted: “We need now to see about the other two players, Chicharito and Balbuena. So that is a big problem but we need to trust the squad and try to make a good rotation.
“Javier had a kick in his back during the week. He couldn’t work. Now in this game (against Watford) he had the same problem with some strain in his hamstring.”

Balbuena has been in excellent form since arriving at West Ham this summer, and his partnership with Issa Diop in the heart of the Hammers’ defence has been one of the major reasons behind Pellegrini’s side’s success.
His absence will hit West Ham hard, as it is difficult to see a replacement of similar quality in the squad.
Hernandez, meanwhile, has just started to hit a good run of form at West Ham and with Marko Arnautovic also sidelined, his injury has come at a terrible time for the London side.
