Manuel Pascali comments on Celtic striker Odsonne Edouard

Odsonne Edouard is one of the best players at Celtic.

Manuel Pascali has told The Sunday Post that Celtic striker Odsonne Edouard will grow as a player at Napoli.

According to The Sunday Post, Napoli boss Carlo Ancelotti – who won the Champions League twice as manager with AC Milan and once with Real Madrid – admires the 21-year-old striker.

The Frenchman has established himself as a key player at Celtic and is one of the first names on Neil Lennon’s teamsheet.

According to WhoScored, the youngster has scored five goals in five Scottish Premiership appearances for the Hoops so far this season, and he also found the net twice in five Champions League qualifiers.

Pascali, who is now on the books of Italian club ASD Cavenago Fanfulla, played for Kilmarnock in Scotland, and the 38-year-old central defender has spoken highly of Edouard, saying that he would grow as a player if he moved to Napoli.

Pascali told The Sunday Post about Edouard: “It does not surprise me he is drawing attention from very big clubs because he is a complete striker.

“He is very strong, physically, has great technique and, importantly, is very mobile. He can attack from any area and has also become a specialist in free-kicks.”

Pascali added: “I think he would certainly grow as a player if he went to Napoli but he might also do so if he stays with Celtic.”

Celtic stay or Napoli move?

It is hard to see Celtic cash in on Edouard in the January transfer window, as the Hoops are going to find it hard to find a suitable replacement for the 21-year-old in the middle of the season.

It will be interesting to see what happens next summer, as Napoli are a massive club and regularly compete for the Serie A title and feature in the Champions League.

Meanwhile, Celtic legend Pat Bonner has given his take on James Forrest and Ryan Christie following the Hoops’ 3-1 win against Kilmarnock at Celtic Park in the Scottish Premiership on Sunday.

Bonner told BBC Sport about Forrest: “James Forrest has been very, very good. He’s moved over to his natural right-hand side now but that certainly doesn’t stop him. In fact it may make him stronger.

Bonner told BBC Sport about Christie: “There’s a debate among Celtic fans as to where Ryan Christie’s best position is. Personally, I think he is better in that No.10 role in behind Odsonne Edouard rather than playing out on the wing.”
