Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal want Manuel Locatelli and Nuno’s Tottenham Hotspur want Cristian Romero, and a new report has claimed how the futures of the two players are inter-linked.
Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur claims
The Athletic reported this month that Arsenal are keen on signing Locatelli from Sassuolo in the summer transfer window.
Sassuolo News also reported this month that the Gunners have made a bid for the Italy international midfielder, but the Euro 2020 winner wants to join Juventus.
The Guardian reported this week that Tottenham are in talks with Atalanta over the signing of defender Romero.
Inter-linked
TMW are now reporting that Locatelli’s future is dependent on Romero.
How?
Here’s how.
Locatelli wants to join Juventus, but for the former Italian champions to pay part of the transfer fee that Sassuolo are demanding, they are waiting for Atalanta to give them the €16 million (£13.52m) needed to make Romero’s loan deal permanent before they can sell the Argentina international central defender to Spurs for a hefty profit.

Blow for Arsenal, joy for Tottenham Hotspur?
With Tottenham and Atalanta reportedly in talks, there is a possibility that a transfer could happen.
Locatelli wants Juventus, and Arsenal could be disappointed in their quest to sign the Italian.
After all, Juve are the biggest club in Italy and will play in the Champions League next season as well as aim to reclaim the Scudetto.
