West Ham United have endured a woeful campaign so far this season.
West Ham ace Manuel Lanzini spoke exclusively to the club’s official website, and declared his love for the Hammers faithful, highlighting how important they will be to his side’s Premier League run-in.
The east London outfit are currently sitting precariously in 17th position in the Premier League table, just two points clear of the drop zone, with relegation to the Championship seemingly being a very real possibility.
West Ham have won just one Premier League game since their 4-1 victory away at Huddersfield Town on January 13th, and their recent slide has been alarming to say the least.
Lanzini urged the Hammers fans to get behind the team over the final eight games, however, when speaking to reporters, admitting how lucky he and his teammates are to have such fanatical support behind them, as quoted by WHUFC.com:
“We have a fantastic group of supporters who follow us everywhere. We’re really lucky to have this amazing, fanatical support that we do and my message to them would be ‘Have hope, please keep on supporting us and help us’. It’s always nice to play at home as the supporters are there and you feel them, so you get more confidence. You also feel you have a responsibility to them to do as well as you can and, if we can keep playing and getting results, that will see us safe. I want to say thank you for your support in every game. Keep going like this. We are fighting with you and we need to stay all together.”
Next up for West Ham is their crucial clash with Southampton, who sit just two points below them in the Premier League table, on March 31st, and nothing less than a win will do for David Moyes’ side, with some really challenging fixtures still to be played.
