Manuel Lanzini thanks West Ham fans and admits joy at permanent deal

The Argentine spent last season on loan at Upton Park and signed a permanent deal this summer.

West Ham United midfielder Manuel Lanzini has told the club’s official website that he is hugely grateful to the club, particularly the supporters, for the way they made him feel at home in England and voiced his joy at signing a permanent deal this summer.

Lanzini joined the Hammers on a season-long loan deal from River Plate last summer and starred during his first season in England.

The former Argentina youth international added a touch of class and flair to the club’s midfield and scored seven goals from 30 appearances in all competitions.

He became a fan favourite amongst Irons supporters because of his mixture of passion and flair, and the club moved quickly to make the temporary signing a permanent player at the back end of the campaign.

Lanzini has admitted that he feels a great deal of gratitude towards West Ham supporters for the way they welcomed him to the club, and is clearly delighted to be able to look forward to playing in front of them for years to come.

The 23-year-old told the club’s website: “I’m very grateful to the West Ham fans. They’ve always treated me very well since I arrived and I really like them and their passion for the club. They’ve made me feel at home which is very important.

“I’m also very grateful to the board, the coaching staff and my teammates who’ve helped me settle in and make me feel at home. I’m happy to have signed a permanent deal here and will stay here for more years which is what I wanted, so I’m very pleased.

“There were fantastic moments last season and we had a great year in which we achieved a lot for West Ham. We tried to stay as high in the table as we could and on a personal level, I felt very happy last year. I hope that will also be the case this year.”

Lanzini had to withdraw from Argentina’s Olympic squad this summer with injury, and that has restricted him to just half an hour of competitive football so far this season.

However, after his substitute appearance against Manchester City before the international break he now looks fit and firing again, and Hammers fans will be pleased to be able to welcome him back.
