The West Ham United star has really come into his own over the past two months.
West Ham United’s Manuel Lanzini in action
West Ham’s mercurial playmaker Manuel Lanzini explained how he thrives off of the pressure of being the Hammers’ ‘go-to’ man, claiming that he needs that feeling of pressure in order to be able to perform to his very best, when writing a column for the club’s official match day programme for Monday night’s game against Chelsea, and quoted via the club’s official website.
Slaven Bilic’s side welcome the league leaders to the London Stadium for the second time this season, and will be looking for a victory that would see them close the gap on eighth placed West Bromwich Albion to just four points.
Antonio Conte’s men will undoubtedly pose one of West Ham’s toughest challenges of their season so far, however, and will be looking to maintain their healthy advantage at the top of the pile.
And in order for the Hammers to have any chance whatsoever of winning the game, they will need Lanzini to be at his very best.
The 24-year-old explained how he needs to feel that his teammates are relying on him, in order to produce his best, when writing programme notes ahead of his side’s clash against Chelsea, and quote via WHUFC.com:

“I like this pressure. I like to take the ball and play for the team and I need this for my personality. I need the pressure and I need to feel that the team is relying on me. This is important for me.”
The Argentine spent the 2015/16 season on loan at West Ham, before making the permanent switch in the summer for a fee believed to be in the region of £9 million.
And what an incredible bargain that is already beginning to look.
