The West Ham United star has really risen to prominence this season.

West Ham ace Manuel Lanzini sat down for an exclusive interview with the club’s official website, and raved about his teammate Declan Rice, suggesting that the Englishman can go on to become even better than Argentina and Barcelona legend Javier Mascherano.

The 20-year-old has been quite simply brilliant for the Hammers this season, and he continues to go from strength to strength.

Rice recently committed his international future to England, and the stars seem aligned for him to go on and become one of the very best players both in the Premier League and on the world stage.

And Lanzini is certainly a big fan of the holding midfielder.

The Argentine shared his belief that Rice will go on to be even better than Javier Mascherano, when speaking exclusively to the club’s official website:

LONDON, UK 2ND MARCH West Ham midfielder Declan Rice beats Newcastle forward Salomon Rondon during the Premier League match between West Ham United and Newcastle United at the London...

“Declan for me is the hero of the team. He is amazing. I like to play with him. He is one of the best players in the Premier League. He is like Javier Mascherano. I played with Mascherano and he is a very good player. He is 20 and I think Declan needs to continue like this, if he stays focused and I think he can be better than Mascherano.”

That is quite the compliment for the West Ham youngster, considering just how successful the former Barcelona ace has been in the game.

The 34-year-old won five league titles, five Copa del Reys and two Champions League winner’s medal during his time at the Camp Nou, as well as earning 147 international caps for his country.

And if Rice can go on to achieve even a quarter of what the Argentine has during his time in the game, the West Ham ace will have a wonderfully exiting career ahead of him.
