Manuel Lanzini on David Moyes’ training sessions at West Ham United

David Moyes lost his first match in charge at West Ham United last weekend.

Manuel Lanzini has told West Ham United’s official website that David Moyes has been working on increasing the Hammers’ intensity in matches and their link-up play during his initial training sessions.

Moyes has taken over from Slaven Bilic and has a great deal to work on, if he is to guide West Ham up the Premier League table.

The Hammers have been in abject form so far this season, and currently sit in 18th place in the Premier League table.

But Lanzini feels that West Ham’s players are adapting well to Moyes’ ideas, and an improvement is on the way.

“We’ve been working on our intensity in games, and our link-up play,” the Argentine play-maker said. “We’re trying to develop our game and his game all together and I hope we can succeed. We’re not far away from that.

“It’s down to our intelligence as players in terms of being able to put into practice what the coach wants from us. We are taking on his ideas and putting them into practice, in terms of the intensity, and I think we are doing well.”

Moyes has already taken charge of his first game at West Ham, but he was unable to spark an improvement in the London side.

West Ham were beaten 2-0 by Watford at Vicarage Road, in what was the Scottish boss’s first match in charge.

That defeat has only served to increase the pressure on Moyes, with his appointment not going down well with supporters at the London Stadium.

West Ham are next in action this evening, when they take on Leicester City, in desperate need of three points.
