Some Rangers fans think the former West Ham United Jack Wilshere is heading to Ibrox.

Wilshere is free to sign for Rangers outside of the transfer window after West Ham released him from his contract last month.

The 28-year-old has been widely tipped for a move to Ibrox, where his former England colleague Steven Gerrard is manager.

Speaking to Sky Sports after leaving West Ham, Wilshere claimed he had since held talks with people who ‘rate him’ as a footballer and ‘want’ him.

He stopped short of naming any of the interested parties, including Rangers.

But a post added to the Englishman’s Instagram story on Tuesday appeared to hint that an announcement about his future could be imminent.

And the following Rangers fans – whether entirely serious or not – seem to think that’s the case.

This is perhaps worth bearing in mind, however…

Despite the Gerrard connection, a move to Rangers might not be not the most logical destination for Wilshere.

The Gers only recently added to their central midfield options – of which there are plenty – with the signing of Bongani Zungu on loan from Amiens.

Gerrard’s side have an option to turn Zungu’s deal permanent next summer, when the contract of Steven Davis, another player in Wilshere’s position, is also due to expire.
