Although Manny Pacquiao has participated in high-profile fights, he appeared anxious while watching one of his children box for the first time on Saturday.

Jimuel Pacquiao faced off against English teacher and former collegiate champion Brendan Lally in a four-round lightweight match.

Lally looked to have done enough to secure the win after 12 minutes, but the bout was ruled a majority draw. One judge scored it 39-37 in favour of Manny’s son, while the other two had it even at 38-38.

Is Jimuel Pacquiao planning to step into the ring again?

Following the draw, Manny and Jimuel spoke to reporters backstage in California.

The boxing icon praised his son’s effort but said he would need to be more involved if there is going to be a second pro fight.

“It’s the plan,” Manny replied when asked whether his son wants to keep competing in professional boxing.

“I want to make sure that, if he fights again, I’m gonna supervise his training.

“He can fight again, but I have to make sure I’m supervising his training.

“I don’t want that to happen again. He needs to improve his instincts and focus on his opponent in the fight.”

Manny Pacquiao’s next fight

Manny Pacquiao is not done yet. At 46 years old, he still has plans of becoming boxing’s oldest welterweight champion – a goal he came close to achieving against Mario Barrios this past July.

The bout ended in controversy as a majority draw, leaving Pacquiao without a belt.

If a title shot doesn’t materialize, there could be another option on the table: a rematch with Floyd Mayweather. Talks are reportedly ongoing, though nothing is set as we move closer to 2026.
