If Luke Shaw were to leave Manchester United for Tottenham then the defender would have to be prepared to take a pay cut.
Luke Shaw of Manchester United looks on during the Carabao Cup Third Round match against Burton Albion.
Luke Shaw has been linked with a reunion with Mauricio Pochettino at Tottenham Hotspur having fallen out-of-favour at Manchester United under Jose Mourinho.
The left-back has made just two appearances for the Red Devils this season, both in the Carabao Cup, as it becomes increasingly apparent he will have to leave Old Trafford to get regular game time.

With Sky Sports reporting that Spurs are interested by a swap deal involving Danny Rose, last month Shaw revealed that he would like to play for Pochettino – whom he worked with at Southampton – again.
“I do hope that I can play for him again one day. And I think he really wants me to play under him again,” the 22-year-old wrote in the epilogue of Guillem Balague’s Brave New World: Inside Pochettino’s Spurs, as quoted by Sky Sports.
“He used to call me his son, that’s how good our relationship was. I’ve had lots of ups and downs, but when I was with Pochettino it was only ever up, up, up.”

However, if Shaw were to leave United to join up with Pochettino at Tottenham then the defender would have to take a wage cut of some description.
The Daily Mail reported earlier this year that the England international earned £100,000-a-week at his current club, which is around what Spurs’ highest earners Harry Kane and captain Hugo Lloris receive – according to the Telegraph.
This is due to a well documented strict wage structure at the North London club, which is likely to mean that Shaw would need to accept lower earnings to hopefully achieve more playing time. Would the defender make the sacrifice?
