Axel Tuanzebe has been thriving on loan at Aston Villa in recent weeks.

New manager Dean Smith has played Tuanzebe in his preferred position at centre-back after former boss Steve Bruce selected the loanee at right-back.

Aston Villa supporters have made clear their desire for the club to sign Tuanzebe on a permanent basis.

This could be tricky after the latest reports regarding Manchester United’s transfer plans.

The Telegraph report United are looking to sell first team defenders Eric Bailly and Marcos Rojo in January.

Phil Jones and Chris Smalling are also in the final years of their contract at Old Trafford.

This makes it illogical that United would cash in on Tuanzebe, with up to four centre-backs potentially leaving.

Tuanzebe is making impressive progress at Villa and this will only encourage United that he could have a future at Old Trafford after all.
