Adnan Januzaj was nothing short of disastrous at Sunderland – and now Manchester United want to get rid.
Three years ago, Adnan Januzaj inherited the number 11 shirt at Manchester United after the legendary Ryan Giggs hung up his boots following over 20 years of loyal service.
If there was ever an indication about how highly United rated this wafer-thin yet technically gifted Belgian, this was it.
Fast forward to the present day, however, and it’s fair to say Januzaj looks rather unlikely to emulate Giggs’ achievements or longevity in United’s famous red. According to ESPN, manager Jose Mourinho will bring the 22-year-old’s Old Trafford dream to an end this summer – provided United receive an offer of over £8 million.

And it’s fair to say Sunderland, where Januzaj spent the 2016/17 season on loan, will not be aiming to bring the youngster back to Wearside this summer.
Goodbye for good
After all, The Black Cats are strapped for cash right now with debt crippling the club. In fact, the fact that they were forced to rely on short-term deals and free transfers perhaps explains why they signed Januzaj on loan last summer.
An all-too rare ray of sunshine in David Moyes’ disastrous season at United in 2013/14, it appeared that a re-union at the Stadium of Light could kick-start Januzaj’s career after a disastrous loan at Borussia Dortmund.
However, contributing just three assists and no goals in 25 Premier League appearances as Sunderland finished bottom of the table, Januzaj was less an inspired addition, more a forgettable flop.
He was even booed off when substituted against Watford in the final stretch of a disastrous season.
As such, Manchester United will surely snap any club’s hand off for £8 million this summer. But Sunderland will not be attempting to welcome Januzaj back any time soon.
