Angel di Maria says that he could have joined Paris Saint-Germain instead of Manchester United in the summer transfer window.
Manchester United fans must be over the moon to have a certain Angel di Maria in the team.
The Argentina international winger joined the Red Devils from Real Madrid in the summer transfer window for a British-record fee of £59.7 million.
The 26-year-old has been a key player for United so far this season and has proved to be a valuable addition to the squad.
In nine Premier League appearances, Di Maria has scored three goals and has created 28 chances, while having a pass accuracy of 79% and a shot accuracy of 53%.
Di Maria looks to have a bright future at Old Trafford and could become a United great by the time his current contract runs out in June 2019.
But will the former Madrid star remain at United for long? Will he extend his deal?
“PSG, I think they had a money problem and they couldn’t buy players,” Goal.com quotes Di Maria as telling Telefoot. “This is the main reason I didn’t go there.
“Playing in the French league would please a lot of players. Now I’m in the English league. But you never know, there is a lot of movements in football. You can never predict where you’re going to play.
“There were a lot of clubs interested in me. A lot really. But Manchester United appeared and didn’t go away. They absolutely wanted me and it happened.”
Di Maria’s comments to Telefoot confirm that Paris Saint-Germain were genuinely keen on him in the summer, and suggest that he is open to leaving United in the future.
