They player, who is believed to be chased by QPR and Stoke, can play as a defender or a defensive midfielder although the latter is preferred. Scouts from United and Arsenal reportedly watched the player in Celtic’s 1-0 loss to Norwich and the Manchester club see the player as providing backup in central defence and midfield. Celtic are looking for £7m before they agree to a sale.
The Van Persie transfer saga narrowed down to two potential clubs as Juventus director Giuseppe Marotta conceded that Arsenal’s valuation of the player was too high. The North London club are demanding £20m for their striker who has 12 months remaining on his contract and Juventus’ withdrawal leaves only United and City in the hunt for his signature.
