Manchester United are interested in signing Real Madrid’s Raphael Varane but they could still want Toby Alderweireld from Spurs as well.

Manchester United have turned their attention to Real Madrid defender Raphael Varane, reports the Mirror, with manager Jose Mourinho planning a summer overhaul of his squad.
The Red Devils are hoping that £40m will be enough to land Varane, although Madrid are holding out for closer to £50m for their France international.

End of Alderweireld interest?
Unfortunately for Tottenham Hotspur, this does not mean that their Premier League rivals are no longer interested in signing Toby Alderweireld.
Alderweireld is about to enter the final year of his current contract at Spurs and while there is the option for a one-year extension, that would also activate a £25m release clause. Talks have stalled over a new deal.

United are one of the clubs keen on signing the Belgian and with Mourinho wanting two new centre-backs, that does not mean that targeting Varane has ended that interest in the Tottenham star.
Barcelona’s Samuel Umtiti is also on their radar, while Phil Jones, Victor Lindelof and Chris Smalling could all be on their way out of Old Trafford.
