A select round-up of the latest news relating to Manchester United…
According to a report from the Sunday Times, Bayern Munich midfielder Bastian Schweinsteiger could be tempted to move to Manchester United by the promise of a regular starting spot at Old Trafford.
The German international started just 15 Bundesliga matches last season (in part due to injury) and it is being claimed United will guarantee that he is picked regularly should he swap his homeland for a stint in England.
United need quality midfield additions and Schweinsteiger would certainly be that, and with a contract that expires next summer, the time could be deemed right for the 30-year-old to try his hand elsewhere.
In other news, the Mirror claims Manchester City have joined United in the race to sign Real Madrid defender Sergio Ramos this summer.
With United reportedly already having two bids rejected for the Spanish international it is now being claimed their cross-city rivals will try to prise him away from the Bernabeu.
But with the money being talked about to make a deal happen – £64million according to the Mirror – surely neither side will go even close to that figure for the 29-year-old.
