Erik ten Hag’s Manchester United are interested in signing Illan Meslier from Leeds United, according to The Sun.
Manchester United linked with Leeds United goalkeeper Illan Meslier
The report in the British tabloid has claimed that although Manchester United are ready to pay £250,000-a-week to David de Gea, they are looking at long-term replacements for the Spanish goalkeeper.
And, according to the report, one of the goalkeeper who have caught the eye of the former Premier League and UEFA Champions League winners is Leeds star Meslier.
The report has claimed that although the Red Devils are willing to wait ‘until there is a starting place to offer Meslier’, they could be forced to move quickly in the summer transfer window if Leeds get relegated to the Championship.
If Leeds go down, then it is likely that they will have to sell players, including Meslier, and a lot of clubs could be interested in the 22-year-old Freshman.

Tottenham Hotspur have been linked with the youngster.
“United are willing to wait until there is a starting place to offer Meslier,” states the report in The Sun.
“The complication will be if Leeds go down and Meslier is sold. United would then have to move swiftly to stop him going elsewhere.”
Could a transfer happen?
Now, we know that Manchester United and Leeds United are big rivals.
Leeds would not be too willing to sell any of their best players to the Red Devils.
However, Illan Meslier himself could be tempted to move to one of the biggest clubs in the world, especially if Leeds get relegated to the Championship at the end of the season.
Manchester United are starting to become a force again under head coach Erik ten Hag, and the chance to play week in and week out in major competitions and challenge for trophies could be very tempting for the Frenchman.
