Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane would be open to a move to Manchester United in the summer of 2023, according to journalist Miguel Delaney’s Reading the Game newsletter in The Independent (1:31pm, January 20, 2023).

The journalist has claimed that Manchester United are interested in Kane, and that the £200,000-a-week (SalarySport) England international striker himself is open to a move away from Tottenham.

Delaney wrote: “It is well known that Manchester United will go big for a forward in the summer but the growing question is who.

“Erik ten Hag would favour pace, such as Victor Osimhen, but the player’s contract and Napoli’s canniness could make that an extraordinarily difficult deal to do.

“That is the sort of thing that is usually said about Tottenham Hotspur, but the growing feeling is that may not be the case with Harry Kane this summer.

“It will be two years since his attempt to go to Manchester City and Spurs’ hand won’t be as strong due to the fact he will only have two years left on his contract.

“They may not be as strong in terms of the profile of the club, either, with so much dependent on whether they win a trophy this season or get back into the Champions League.

“If ever there was a time to sell, with Kane 30 in the summer and just a year until he can go for free, it might be then.

“He would be open to a move to a resurgent United, and they would obviously investigate it again. They’ve had strong interest before.

“There has already been talk of how he could become another Robin van Persie figure in being obsessed with finally winning club silverware.”

Could Manchester United sign Harry Kane from Tottenham Hotspur?

In our view, Manchester United could be able to sign Harry Kane from Tottenham Hotspur in the summer of 2023.

Yes, Spurs are a big and ambitious club, but it is hard to see the North London outfit win the Premier League title anytime soon, even with serial winner Antonio Conte in charge.

Kane is one of the best strikers on the planet, and the chance to play for arguably the biggest club in England could be very appealing to him, especially if United end up in the Premier League top four this season.

The England international is also chasing Alan Shearer’s record of most goals scored in the Premier League, and staying in England and playing for United would enable him to continue that pursuit.

Now, of course, Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy is going to ask for a lot of money if indeed he can be persuaded to sell Kane, but United are a rich club, and if they are determined to sign a striker in his prime, then they should be able to get a deal done.
