A select round-up of the latest news relating to Manchester United…
According to a report from the Daily Star, Manchester United have offered winger Ashley Young a new three-year contract with the option of an additional year.
The 30-year-old has just one year remaining on his current deal but he has become an integral part of United’s side under manager Louis van Gaal.
Last season Young was picked time and again ahead of club-record signing Angel Di Maria and he has continued where he left off on the club’s summer tour of the USA, once again looking like one of United’s best performers.
The report goes on to claim that the terms are similar to Young’s current £120,000-a-week contract.
In other news, the Times claims United right-back Rafael is on the verge of leaving the club for French side Lyon.
The Brazilian has barely featured since van Gaal arrived at Old Trafford and it is now being reported that he will leave for Ligue 1 for £2.1million.
Rafael may be erratic but he is still an undeniable talent and for that price Lyon would be getting something of a bargain who still has years ahead of him in the game.
