Transfer news from Old Trafford including Marouane Fellaini, Leighton Baines, Cesc Fabregas, Wayne Rooney and Scott Wootton
Manchester United are expected to step up any interest in Everton midfielder Marouane Fellaini. Reports began to emerge yesterday that a deal for the player was being thrashed together – but the news doesn’t stop there.
It seems a joint bid for Fellaini and his Everton team-mate Leighton Baines is in the offing – reported to be in the region of £30 million.
So far Everton have insisted that both players have not yet been the subject of any bid from the Premier League champions.
So far David Moyes has struggled in the transfer market and it appears he is ready to go back to comforts to try and break his transfer duck.
Barcelona boss appears to have put the final nail in the coffin of their interest in Cesc Fabregas. The former Arsenal captain played against Thailand yesterday in a 7-1 victory.
United have made two bids for Spaniard this summer but Moyes recently conceded that they may not be able to complete the deal.
Now, the new Barcelona manager, Tata Martino has been unequivocal in his stance over the future of Fabregas:
“Fabregas is still our player and he will be with us for this season,”
Wayne Rooney has reportedly been told to ‘put up or shut up’ over his future with the club. If the England striker wants to exit the club it is said he must hand in a transfer request ASAP. At that point they will consider letting him go.
Finally and Leeds United are said to be after Manchester United youngster Scott Wootton.
Brian McDermott has reportedly highlighted the 21-year-old defender as one of his main transfer targets and watched him in the reserve game against Manchester City last night.
Wootton is currently on a month-to-month contract at Old Trafford so would not be absurdly expensive.
