Tottenham Hotspur want Victor Osimhen and Manchester United allegedly believe that Napoli’s £86million asking price is ‘crazy’.

United will be in the market for a big striker signing in 2023.

Cristiano Ronaldo’s second stint at the club is over and United simply have to spend on a new goalscorer.

A host of names have been linked with United but Napoli striker Osimhen may not end up at Old Trafford despite interest from the Red Devils.

Manchester United think Tottenham target Victor Osimhen is too expensive

Sky Germany reporter Florian Plettenberg reports that Manchester United have made Osimhen one of their top targets.

However, United don’t want to pay the ‘crazy’ price tag Napoli have put on his head – around €100million (£86million).

Frankly, that’s the going rate for top strikers in this day and age.

Osimhen has racked up 10 goals in 14 games this season, cementing his place as one of the top young strikers in Europe.

Add in 18 gaol in 32 games last season and you can’t really blame Napoli for demanding upwards of £80million.

United may think that’s just too much but if they want to find a top goalscorer for years to come, that’s the kind of price they will need to pay.

Osimhen, 23, has other admirers in the Premier League and there have been links to Tottenham Hotspur.

Italian transfer reporter Enrico De Lellis has told Calciomercato that Tottenham boss Antonio Conte is urging the club to go and sign Osimhen.

It’s hard to imagine Tottenham going and spending £86million on a new striker unless Harry Kane is on his way out.

That doesn’t really seem likely, so we can’t see Osimhen ending up at Tottenham either.

That’s all good for Napoli, who will hope to keep hold of Osimhen for years to come and leave both United and Tottenham looking elsewhere for striking additions.
