Manchester United want Axel Disasi and are opening talks to try and beat Tottenham Hotspur and West Ham United to his signature.

That’s according to the Daily Mail, United are eyeing a move to bring Monaco defender Disasi to Old Trafford.

United have allegedly opened ‘initial negotiations’ to sign Disasi but just when a deal would happen is unclear.

It’s stated that United want to sign a defender in the summer with Harry Maguire potential on his way out of United.

That means United may well fancy signing Disasi now and loaning him back to Monaco for the rest of the season.

Alternatively, United could tee up a deal just for Disasi to join in the summer and beat the competition to his signature.

Tottenham also want Manchester United target Axel Disasi

Transfer insider Dean Jones, whilst speaking to Give Me Sport last month, indicated that West Ham United had joined Arsenal and Tottenham in the race for Disasi.

All three London clubs had allegedly been scouting Disasi ahead of a potential bid for the French defender.

Tottenham may well go for another centre back in the summer as Antonio Conte seeks more competition.

Davinson Sanchez hasn’t covered himself in glory this season, Japhet Tanganga looks unlikely to nail down a first-team role and Joe Rodon will likely be available permanently.

Adding Disasi as competition for both Eric Dier and Cristian Romero makes sense given his ability to play in the middle or on the right of a back three.

The 6ft 3in defender excelled with Stade de Reims and has continued his fine form with Monaco since joining in 2020.

United went big for a left-footed centre back in Lisandro Martinez and may fancy adding Disasi as a powerful right-footer to compete with Raphael Varane.

Those talks may well lead to a deal and Tottenham may well be left disappointed with United asking their move.
