Tottenham Hotspur take on Manchester United in the Premier League tonight and transfer target Dean Henderson has been in limbo today.

Tottenham make the trip north to Old Trafford this evening as they seek another win to help their chase for the Premier League.

Hammering Everton on Monday night was a real boost, and Antonio Conte will want a repeat of Tottenham’s last trip to Manchester.

The 3-2 win over Manchester City last month was truly incredible and Tottenham certainly have the quality to make it happen again.

Opponents United have been going through a strange few hours given uncertainty surrounding their first-choice goalkeeper David De Gea.

It had been reported earlier on Saturday that De Gea had tested positive for COVID-19 and Henderson would be coming in for a rare start.

However, the Manchester Evening News report that De Gea’s test was actually a false positive, meaning the Spaniard is expected to be involved after all.

That means Henderson may have been preparing a start but is instead set to fulfil his usual role as United’s goalkeeper on the bench.

You can hardly blame Henderson for being a little frustrated at having his chance of a start taken away, even if the health and safety of De Gea is the most important thing.

Once branded ‘exceptional’ by Sander Berge during their time together at Sheffield United, Henderson has quality but hasn’t had many chances to show it.

Henderson hasn’t played a single minute of Premier League football this season and today’s game may actually have been something of an audition.

The Manchester Evening News claim that Tottenham want to sign Henderson this summer, meaning Conte could have been given a first-hand look at the goalkeeper.

Instead, Henderson will watch tonight’s game from the bench having been given something of a false alarm by the De Gea concerns earlier today.
