Manchester United might just want to step up their interest in Atletico Madrid’s Kieran Trippier after hearing his epic statistic from last season.

According to WhoScored.com, Trippier had the greatest cross accuracy (from those who attempted +75) of any full-back in Europe’s top five leagues in 2020/21.

With 32.4%, this places the England international above many of the game’s great modern defenders.

That’s higher than Liverpool duo Trent Alexander-Arnold and Andy Robertson.

Trippier even towers above the Red Devils pairing Luke Shaw and Aaron Wan-Bissaka.

The 30-year-old showed off his ability at the European Championships, setting up Shaw with a delightful loft in the final against Italy.

It was a theme of his time with Tottenham Hotspur, whipping in balls onto Harry Kane’s head.

United demand Trippier’s delivery

United could do with applying this service to their side in the upcoming campaign.

A report from the Manchester Evening News claim that Trippier is confident a move to Old Trafford will occur this summer.

His deal with Atletico runs out in 2023, after joining the Spaniards in 2019 for £20m (BBC).

He has since made 68 appearances and was key to the club’s recent La Liga triumph.

Atletico are reportedly holding firm over selling the right-back but might be swayed if United come in with a big offer.

They are eager to hand Wan-Bissaka some competition, given he has been allowed free reign over the right side of defence across the past few years.

Interestingly, both Englishmen managed six assists in the previous term, yet Trippier’s stats show he is a more efficient crosser.

Ole Gunna Solskjaer also wants to add Raphael Varane to his back-line, a transfer that is teetering on the edge as well.
