Manchester United have issued a notice of intent to sell 10% of club shares on the New York Stock Exchange. Prices will begin at $19 per share and flotation is expected to raise $300m (£191m). The club currently hold a debt of £400m and in the club’s prospectus regarding their intended flotation it emerged that 50% of the raised amount will pay off part of the debt. The other 50% will go directly to the Glazer family. The Glazers will still hold remaining shares that gives them ten times as many votes.
The Manchester United Supporters Trust have castigated the Glazer family in response to news that 50% of profits will go to the owners that will see each member earn $25m.
QPR are reportedly preparing a £5m bid for United striker Berbatov. Mark Hughes is looking to improve his striking pedigree and having already brought in Andy Johnson on a free transfer, Hughes sees Berbatov as a complementary piece to an attacking line. QPR currently have DJ Campbell, Rob Hulse, Heidar Helguson and Jay Bothroyd in their ranks but none are adjudged to be capable of leading the line in Hughes’ eyes. The QPR boss has already bought Park and loaned in Fabio from United and a third addition from United could soon be arriving.
Sir Alex Ferguson has stated that he believes Chicharito will return to form this season after a summer break. The Mexican forward had a stunning debut season at Old Trafford but his form suffered last term after not having any rest in the summer due to international duty. Ferguson hopes a full break this summer will reinvigorate the striker’s form.
According to The Sun, Rio Ferdinand is ‘dumbfounded’ at the charge issued to him by the FA over improper conduct on Twitter. The player believes that the FA is out of touch with use of the social networking site. It is as yet unknown if the player will deny his charge; he has until Thursday to do so.
Young United goalkeeper Ben Amos has moved to Hull on a season-long loan. The 22-year-old is third-choice keeper at Old Trafford behind De Gea and Lindegaard but hopefully a move to Steve Bruce’s Championship side will see him gain more experience.
And finally, Sao Paulo are to offer Lucas Moura a new improved contract to convince the player to stay at the club. Director of Football Adalberto Baptista affirmed that the club would look to renegotiate a deal for their young attacker upon his return from the Olympics.
